About Walkon Boxers

The Walkon Boxer kennel can be found overlooking Loch Ryan amid green fields in the unspoiled countryside of South West Scotland, just 20 miles across the water from Northern Ireland. Visitors will always receive a hearty Scottish welcome!

Walker Horses Yvonne

Walker is a retired veterinary surgeon who specialised in both small and large animals and while Yvonne is technically the breeder, both of us handle in the ring. We currently spend our time pandering to our 4 Boxers (Archie, Suzi, Skelly & Bentley), 2 Bulldogs (Mattie and her daughter Tangu) as well as 2 horses (Danny the hunter and Dollar the show jumper). This we do between dog shows, golf and our love of foreign travel which includes regular trips to our house in North Cyprus. Both of us enjoy judging and have awarded CC's many times in the UK and abroad.

We bought our first boxer Broomhouse Sea Queen Of Walkon in 1978, purely as a pet, mating her back to her Grandfather to produce our first litter in 1980. The pick of the litter Walkon Gin Fizz was in turn mated to Ch Tyegarth Famous Grouse resulting in Walkon Wotta Smasha who won the first RCC for Walkon at Bournemouth Ch Show in 1985.

She in turn was mated to Ch Tyegarth Glenmorangie Of Jenroy (Grouse's brother) and the bitch we kept from the resulting litter, blossomed into Ch Walkon Smash'D Again who was the dam of three champions, the founder of our strong bitch line and is behind every dog in the kennels at the present time.

Just prior to this we were lucky enough to buy in two puppies who grew up to be Ch Jenroy Pop My Cork To Walkon and Ch Slightly Sloshed of Sunhawk At Walkon. Both produced champions for the kennel and on mating them together the product was Walkon Pleasantly Pickled, herself the dam of a further two champions.

Our ultimate delight was combining the bloodlines of the two dogs we feel have been most influential in the success of our kennel - Pop My Cork and Smash'D Again, whose grandson Ch Blueprint Beern Skittles At Walkon, "Bundy", has brought the current generations of sucess to Walkon through his children and grandchildren. Please click on the link below to get his full story and our tribute to the most influential dog in our kennel as well as kennels throught the UK and overseas. He is the fifth genration decendant of our original pet bitch a fact we are hugely proud of!

To date we have owned or bred 29 UK Champions and 15 Overseas Champions including, 3 Irish Champions, 4 Norwegian Champions, 2 Australian Champions, 1 Sweedish Champion, 1 South African Champion, 2 Canadian Champions, 1 International Champion and an Icelandic Champion. At the last count we have won 294 CC's & 272 RCC'S in the UK including the CC at Crufts in 1990, 1993, 1996, 2007, 2010, 2011 and most recently in 2016.
We are very proud that in 38 years and under one ownership, our kennel has won more CC's than any other UK Kennel and made history by breeding and owning the Top Stud Dog All Breeds 2017 & 2018 with Ch Walkon Okay Dokay With Lanfrese.
